Week 21 with Triplets

Thanksgiving Week

It was a short week at Umpa’s day care, due to the Thanksgiving holiday. I had two days with the babies and helped watch them on Wednesday while their mom had a consultation with a home stager in preparation of moving to a larger home.

Funny story about the real estate visit. The babies had been their typical ornery selves all morning, so my daughter was concerned what kind of impression the triplets would make.

Hilariously, all three babies fell asleep minutes before the home stager’s arrival, and stayed that way through the entire visit. From the home stager’s perspective, triplets are so easy.

The trio never does that for us, so maybe we need to schedule more visitors.

Sitting Practice

Building on mom’s work with the babies, I continued helping with their sitting skills. Using the nursing Boppies, the girls had a little play time sitting up while their brother napped.

They did great using the Boppies to steady themselves. What I found really interesting was watching them use their stomach muscles to pull themselves back into an upright position. That shows some serious core strength to help with further development.

Holding Bottle Practice

Baby B showed interest in holding her bottle last week, so I continued building on that.

If you’ve read previous posts about feeding time, you know that the triplets do a great job prop feeding on their side. While that has worked well, they will need to transition to their back for self feeding. Baby B has embraced shifting to her back, while the other two have yet to show interest in making that change.

This week Baby B did all her bottles, at day care, with it propped by a receiving blanket on her stomach. She is awesome at keeping her hands on the bottle to steady it, and demonstrated the ability to return the bottle to her mouth after taking short breaks.

Thanksgiving Holiday

While we did host Thanksgiving at our house, it was more about family members getting time with the triplets. I took the day off from watching the babies and focused on cooking dinner.

We did host some friends who have a one-year-old. She did a great job testing our day care corral and age appropriate toys. I think our setup passed with flying colors, so we should be ready for when the triplets start moving and need to be contained.
