Weeks 23-26 with Triplets
Umpa gets to take vacation too.
It’s been a jumbled few weeks right now with the daycare and general triplet updates. I had a short week watching the triplets before taking a trip with Mimi. My daughter works in education, so I returned for another short week in the daycare before she started Christmas Break.
The Best Dad Ever
While I was off bopping around the Caribbean for a week, the triplet’s dad took off work to watch the babies.
First off, if you’ve read A Day at Umpa’s Daycare, it’s clear that I’ve tried to establish a schedule with our trio. So I had several people ask me if I was concerned that my routine wouldn’t be followed.
The short answer is, he’s their father and can do whatever he wants with them. At that point it’s not daycare but straight up parenting.
Unfortunately, his week got off to a rocky start when the babies started coming down with Respiratory Syncytial Virus, or RSV. Everyone is feeling much better now, and I can’t provide a lot of detail since I wasn’t in town, but it added a monumental layer of complexity to an already challenging week.
Once again, their amazing network of friends and family stepped up to help, but dad did a phenomenal job handling a week I’m sort of glad I missed.
Oh yeah, they also had a few scary weather events to complicate things even more.
Solid Sitters
While the triplets lost a little development momentum during their recovery, there was still some progress.
Baby A & C are solid sitters now, with Baby B close behind. In fact, Baby A gets very upset if she’s not sitting upright. She is very inquisitive and the view is clearly better for watching what’s going on around her.
Their mom has added teething biscuits to enjoy while they’re upright. It’s not their first solid food but starts the process of adding snacks, since they’re starting to get hungry between bottles.
Having just crossed their six month birthday, I’ve been warned for some time that solid foods will be coming to the daycare. Stay tuned as we learn how best to make that work.
Big Week Ahead
I’m writing this on Christmas Eve, so I will have an upcoming post on the triplet’s first Christmas! Knowing this family, it should be a pretty amazing pile of gifts (considering they likely won’t remember a thing).
Next week is also their six month checkup with the pediatrician so we’ll have updates on weight, height and other relevant vitals.
Happy Holidays!
